Canine Katrina Refugee Reunion
Kicking off National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, pets orphaned
by Hurricane Katrina who travelled from New Orleans and Mississippi
to Southold where they found new homes will reunite at the dog run
behind Southold Town Recreation Center on Peconic Lane

8th Annual JET’s Dream Cut-a-thon
Ted Gibson and Stylists from Ted Gibson Salon will
donate hairstyling services to raise money for NFAWL and SAVES, cut
hair will be donated to Locks for Love. Refreshments will be courtesy of Aldo's,
Harborfront

Companion Animal Emergency Preparedness Day
Southold Animal Shelter personnel who learned from hands on experiences
following Hurricane Katrina will share knowledge about being prepared
for animal emergencies. Micro chipping and vaccinations (rabies
and 5 in 1 basics for dogs and cats) will be provided at very low
costs.

Mattituck Strawberry Festival
NFAWL will host a booth featuring discussions and materials on NFAWL’s
new Humane Education Program. Information about animals available
for adoption at Southold Animal Shelter and NFAWL’s efforts
to help place animals made homeless by Hurricane Katrina will also
be distributed.

Learning For Life
Lisa Dubrawski, an employee of the Southold Animal Shelter will participate
in the Boy Scouts of America’s “Learning For Life”
program at Riverhead Middle School. Lisa will discuss career opportunities
at the Southold Animal Shelter with groups of middle school students.
